Orvis Big Game leaders are made from pure fluorocarbon, not blended with nylon like some others. Pure fluorocarbon offers the highest level of abrasion resistance you will find.

The refractive index, is as close to water as it gets in leader and tippet material. This material is virtually invisible to fish, giving the angler yet one more advantage.

With a specific gravity of 1.76, Orvis fluorocarbon leaders and tippets break the surface tension quickly and sink faster than nylon, which is perfect for nymphing. Fluorocarbon retains it’s knot and tensile strength in the water. It does not absorb water, like nylon does.

Orvis Big Game tapered leaders are made using Orvis’ exclusive and patented extrusion taper technology. These leaders are now also made using new tapers that give you better turnover when using larger, heavier flies.

In many cases, this is your best leader choice, especially when fly fishing with sub-surface flies and poppers.
