Semperfli Kapok Dubbing

Starting At:
$3.55

Kapok Dubbing from Semperfli is an extremely fine dubbing that was designed to be the ultimate in buoyancy and floatation. Kapok material has long been renowned as a highly buoyant substance but until recently it was difficult to dye. Semperfli solved this issue so they could produce the best dry fly dubbing. The fibers are 0.7” in length on average and can support up to 30 times their weight in water. Flies tied with this dubbing have lasted days in water without sinking. Kapok dubbing is best used with either split thread or touch dub techniques, which allows the fibers to remain as uncompressed and buoyant as possible.

Kapok is a natural and sustainable material that has a long history of being used in life preservers. The fibers are harvested from the seed pods of the Kapok Tree. These trees are common in tropical climates. Kapok fiber is moisture resistant, quick drying, hollow and buoyant.
