The Yellow Elk Hair Caddis is a fly you should use if you fly fish the Southern Appalachians or Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It is awesome. We know, yellow is a popular color in this region. We think, the reason why is, there are many yellow aquatic insects here, particularly the Yellow Sally Stonefly. That little stonefly is the long lasting, summer through fall insect that is vital to the life of the trout living here.

This Yellow Elk Hair Caddis resembles that stonefly. That is why it is so effective. That’s why it works so well. If you want to match that hatch, use this fly, a Yellow Neversink Caddis or and a Yellow Stimulator, all in size #16. You should have them all if you are fly fishing in the Smokies during the warm months.
