Lamson has finally entered the full-frame euro reel market with the Guru E-Series! We were beginning to wonder just when/if that might happen, but it was certainly worth the wait. The Guru E-Series delivers everything we look for in a euro reel: a fully machined frame/spool, a full cage with tight fit tolerance between frame and spool to prevent line escape, a large arbor that enables fast line pick-up and that helps prevent memory coils in mono rigs/euro fly line, a customizable system of counterweighting, and a highly dependable drag system. That last bit is important, as Lamson's sealed conical drag system is (in our opinion) one of the best on the market, and blows all but the best stacked disc drag systems out of the water in terms of reliability and low start up inertia. That said, Lamson decided to bump this drag system up a notch by adding a discreet click-stop to the adjustment knob, which enables more precise adjustments than the older drag knob. If you're looking for a dedicated euro reel, then this one is hard to beat!
