Pat's Stone is a great "big fish" fly. No matter what their surroundings, trout are opportunistic feeders. If conditions are right, when a trout is presented with a good meal, it's hard to for him to turn it down. This big nymph just looks like a big piece of food, whether it be a stonefly nymph or hellgrammite. Use it to fish high water or anywhere that has a good population of bigger nymphs.
