Description
Ask just about any fly fisherman, when you mention “dry fly”, what pattern he or she thinks of, and it will most likely be the Adams. The Adams is widely used for trout and variations of the pattern, especially the Parachute Adams, is one of the most popular trout flies in the United States. The reason for that is, it mimics many different mayflies. A #10 works well during a Quill Gordon Hatch. A #16 or #18 will take trout feeding on Blue Wing Olives. A #20 serves the angler well during a midge hatch. Every size in between looks like other mayflies found in streams in the US and in other countries.
The Adams was first tied by Leonard Halladay and was first used by Charles F. Adams in 1922.
We offer the Adams in sizes #10 through #20. Every serious fly fisherman should have several different sizes of the Adams in his or her fly box. If you prefer parachute dry flies, choose the Parachute Adams instead. The Parachute Adams was at one time, our best selling dry fly at Little River Outfitters. However, some anglers prefer the original version shown here.
