Fly fishermen who wander into the backcountry, who fish in boats, and who want to keep everything dry, have now found the perfect piece of gear, the Fishpond Thunderhead Submersible Backpack. The Thunderhead Submersible Pack is so waterproof, you can hold it under and it won’t leak. Your gear is safe from the elements or accidents. Professional photographers and scientists who need to protect expensive cameras or electronics, will also find the backpack to be essential to their work.

These packs are made from 1680 denier recycled nylon coated with thermplastic polyurethane (TPU), then heat welded at the seams for total waterproof protection. This is the same process used to make whitewater rafts.

The main compartment is opened and closed using a TIZIP waterproof zipper, manufactured by a company with the same name in Germany. These zippers are even airtight. Close the pack and give it a hug. Air does not escape. Hold the pack under water and it won’t leak. These zippers are amazing!

The other smaller pockets on the pack use a water resistant zipper. They shed water but will leak if submerged, though water will not enter the main compartment.

The Fishpond Thunderhead Submersible Backpack is built using a suspension system of lightweight padded shoulder straps, a strong supported hip belt and a molded panel on the back of the back. The hip belt is removable for short hikes or for boating and other uses.
