More fly fishing anglers are using sling packs, and Fishpond has introduced a new one, a version of an older one, called the Thunderhead Submersible Sling. The sling this one replaced went by the same name, but this new version is different and better.

Many fly fishermen prefer the Thunderhead because the main compartment is waterproof. You can close the bag’s TIZIP zipper, and hold it under water. Your contents stay dry. The TIZIP is longer on this new sling pack, than it was on the previous model.

The outer smaller pocket, uses a water resistant zipper, which sheds water, but will not keep it out if submerged.

Sling packs are comfortable, and they can be moved from behind to the front of your body, for access, then slide it to your backside to fish. The foam should strap is lightweight and comfortable, but made to carry weight if you tend to overload yourself with fishing gear. There are Velcro and Hypalon attachment points on the strap, which is on your chest when you are fishing, so tools are easily accessed.

The Fishpond Thunderhead Sling comes with a set of gear straps, which can be used to mount a rod tube to the pack. This is an especially nice feature for anglers who bushwhack with a Tenkara rod. The Thunderhead Sling is a Tenkara angler’s dream pack.

The Thunderhead Sling has a landing net slot, so your net is ready to land a trout or other species when needed. There are two interior pockets, one zippered and one is not.

The Thunderhead Sling is constructed of heavy duty 1680 Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) coated recycled nylon, welded at the seams. It won’t leak. Squeeze it when the waterproof zipper is closed. Air will not escape. It’s waterproof. It is submersible.

Use it as a boat bag or camera bag. Use it in your kayak or canoe. It is a dry bag too. Use it everywhere.
