In this book, local fly fisherman Sam R. Johnson delves into the fishing opportunities available on the beautiful North Carolina section of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Writing with the knowledge and wisdom gained from many years of boots-on-the-ground experience fishing the Parkway, Johnson elaborates on the history, flora and fauna, topography, hydrology of the area; and provides in-depth information on more than 200 of the best trout streams along the Blue Ridge Parkway. This book is a must have! Whether you've been fishing the area your entire life or just want to learn more about the history, lore and natural world of Blue Ridge Parkway!
Sam was introduced to the Parkway during frequent family vacations to escape the heat of south Alabama. During those trips he learned to fly fish its waters and hike its trails. His affinity for the Parkway has only grown over the past 60 years. He co-hosts a webcast series on the Wild Bearings YouTube Channel about traveling, hiking and fly fishing the Parkway. Each year, Sam delivers dozens of face-to-face and virtual presentations promoting the Parkway to groups around the country. In his spare time, he is a freelance writer for American Fly-Fishing Magazine, member of the Outdoor Writers Association of America, and the Georgia Outdoors Writers Association. He is a juried member of the Southern Highland Craft Guild in Asheville, where he makes bamboo fly rods for anglers and collectors worldwide.
