The Griffin Hook & Hackle Gauge is a very useful tool used to measure your hackle feathers and hooks when tying flies. This fine tool slips on the vise stem above your clamp or pedestal. It easily moves up, down and turns out of the way when not in use.

With this tool you get the benefit of two gauges in one. Simply match your hook to the corresponding number to determine the approximate size, based on a Mustad 94840 dry fly hook.

To measure hackle feathers, bend the hackle around the pin and read the scale with size increments from #4 to #22.
