The Light Cahill is a fly that mimics many mayflies that hatch in the Spring and extending into early Summer. Many of those mayflies are grouped into species with names known as sulphurs, cahills, pale morning dun, pale evening dun and others. Most anglers use this pattern to match the hatch on streams for many different species of light colors mayflies.

This fly has been a staple in fly boxes of many fly fishermen and is considered a basic fly, one you must have. It has been one of the most popular traditional trout dry flies for over 100 years. The Light Cahill is a Catskills pattern first tied by Dan Cahill in the 1880’s.
