Overton’s Wonder Wax was invented and sold by Glenn Overton and it became the most sought after dubbing wax the 1970’s and 1980’s. I remember buying my first tube of Overton’s in the early 80’s. My fishing buddies all used it. The trademarked quote on the bottle reads, “Sticks Only When and Where You Need It”. I found it stuck to the thread and dubbing, but not too much on my fingers.

Mr. Overton passed away sometime in the 80’s and with his passing, his wax disappeared from fly shop shelves and mail order companies. Well, it is back again. I think his son may have re-started the company. I still have an old tube in my fly tying desk as a keepsake that is about 30 years old.

The tube measures 3 ½” tall by 1” thick. A recessed button on the bottom pushes the wax up and ready to dab on your thread. This is enough wax to last most fly tyers for many years.
