Decades ago, I pulled up to the “run” in Boiling Springs Pennsylvania and saw a young fellow in his early teens fighting a huge brown trout. I got out of my truck and watched this special event. The kid finally landed and released the trout. I asked the young man what he caught that trophy trout on. He promptly and proudly said, “a Henryville Special”. I had never heard of one. I soon owned some.

The Henryville Special is an old caddis pattern and I’ll tell you this, it works for fly fishermen in the East United States and most likely in the western States. The fly floats well due being heavily hackled. We don’t sell that many of these and I don’t know why. Maybe if more people saw what I saw that day and tried this fly, it would be more popular. You should try one.
